Advisory board
The members of the advisory board give advice in difficult cases. They also act as “patrons” of the journal.

Topical editors
The topical editors perform the daily work of the publication process: Read the submitted manuscript, select reviewers, read the reviews, and finally make a decision about publication. There is a special assignment scheme that allows editors to select manuscripts within their area of expertise and interest. Most of the process is done via a web interface. The actual workload will depend on the number of submitted manuscripts but as a rough guide, a topical editor would edit about 5 papers per year.

Executive editors
The executive editors represent GMD to the scientific community. They define the aims and scope of GMD, and they stay in close contact with the EGU (via the publication committee).
